2024年10月19日至20日,由SCAA(瑞士中国艺术与建筑协会)、Stiftung Bibliothek Werner Oechslin、ETH Zurich gta研究所和同济大学共同主办的瑞士中国西方艺术与建筑史论坛在瑞士Einsiedeln再次隆重举行。本届论坛主题为“巴洛克建筑在中国:跨越边界”(Across the Boundary: Baroque Architecture in China),汇聚了来自多所知名学府和机构的顶尖学者和研究人员,探讨巴洛克艺术在中西文化交流中的历史角色。
On October 19-20, 2024, SCAA,Stiftung Bibliothek Werner Oechslin, ETH Zurich’s gta Institute, and Tongji University jointly hosted the annual Swiss-China Forum on Western Art and Architectural History in Einsiedeln, Switzerland. This year’s forum, themed “Across the Boundary: Baroque Architecture in China,” brought together distinguished scholars and researchers from renowned institutions to explore the role of Baroque art as a cultural conduit in Sino-Western exchanges.
来自澳门历史文化保护协会、天津大学、佛罗里达大学、苏黎世大学、内蒙古工业大学、ETH Zurich、华南理工大学、哈尔滨工业大学和同济大学的专家们齐聚一堂,共同探索巴洛克风格在中国的传播与演变。论坛分为四个部分,呈现出内容丰富的学术报告和跨文化交流的深刻洞见。
Experts from the Committee of Cultural Heritage in Macau, Tianjin University, the University of Florida, the University of Zurich, Inner Mongolia University of Technology, ETH Zurich, South China University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Tongji University convened to examine the spread and evolution of Baroque styles in China. The forum, organized into four sections, offered rich academic insights and meaningful cross-cultural exchanges.
第一部分:早期在中国的巴洛克教堂
论坛伊始,由同济大学建筑与城市规划学院的副院长袁峰教授回顾了历届论坛亮点,并介绍了ETH建筑学院与同济大学的长期合作。作为论坛的组织者和学术负责人,Werner Oechslin教授介绍了巴洛克艺术的起源及其与耶稣会的传播角色,带领与会者开启了这段文化交流之旅。
Part One: Early Baroque Churches in China
The forum opened with a keynote by Professor Yuan Feng, Vice Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University, who reviewed highlights from previous forums and discussed the longstanding collaboration between ETH Zurich’s Department of Architecture and Tongji University. Werner Oechslin, as the forum’s organizer and academic lead, provided an introduction to the origins of Baroque art and its role in Jesuit missionary work, setting the stage for this journey into cultural exchange.
第二部分:巴洛克花园及雕塑艺术
在“巴洛克花园及雕塑艺术”环节,佛罗里达大学的邹晖深入探讨了圆明园西洋楼中巴洛克艺术与中国画意境的交汇。段建强展示了紫禁城倦勤斋的绘画作品,讲述了巴洛克透视学如何通过传教士在中国皇室建筑中得以引入,呈现出与中国古典绘画截然不同的空间美学。随后,来自苏黎世大学的周盛罗介绍了传教士如何通过结合Salus Populi Sinensis与中国本土佛教和道教元素逐步传播圣经与基督教义,为巴洛克艺术在中国的独特发展提供了深刻的历史视角。
Part Two: Baroque Gardens and Sculpture
In the session on “Baroque Gardens and Sculpture,” Zou Hui from the University of Florida explored the intersection of Baroque art in the Western Mansions of the Old Summer Palace and the aesthetic realm of Chinese painting. Duan Jianqiang introduced the audience to the use of Baroque perspective art in the paintings at the Studio of weary indigence within the Forbidden City, demonstrating how the imported techniques of perspective, particularly those of Andrea Pozzo, influenced the spatial aesthetics distinct from traditional Chinese painting. Antonio De Caro from the University of Zurich then examined how missionaries combined the imagery of the Salus Populi Sinensis with Buddhist and Daoist iconography to gradually introduce Christian teachings, providing a profound historical perspective on Baroque’s adaptation within China.

第三部分“巴洛克风格在中国城市设计中的体现”中,江嘉玮、董健菲和徐好好分别研究了大连、哈尔滨和广东的城市设计。这些城市中巴洛克风格的建筑元素展示了东西方建筑理念在中国现代化进程中的创新融合。
Part Three: Baroque Elements in Urban Design in China
In the third section, “Baroque Elements in Urban Design in China,” Jiang Jiawei, Dong Jianfei, and Xu Haohao discussed the Baroque architectural features found in the urban designs of Dalian, Harbin, and Guangdong, respectively. These studies highlighted the innovative fusion of Eastern and Western architectural concepts in China’s modern urbanization.

在“巴洛克建筑与艺术教学”环节,同济大学的钱峰教授深入讨论了中国在西方建筑史教育中对巴洛克艺术的诠释与局限,呼吁进一步拓展教育资源。王雨林则分享了博士研究,剖析了Giedion的经典著作《空间、时间与建筑》中的图像传播如何在翻译过程中产生误解。ETH的Maarten Delbeke以1945年法国占领德国后对德国巴洛克的发掘为例,进一步探讨了巴洛克艺术的跨国传播和再发掘。
Part Four: Teaching Baroque Art and Architecture
In the final session, “Teaching Baroque Art and Architecture,” Professor Qian Feng from Tongji University discussed the interpretation and limitations of Baroque art in Western architectural history education in China, calling for expanded educational resources. Wang Yulin shared his doctoral research, examining how the images in Giedion’s seminal Space, Time, and Architecture have been altered and misunderstood through translation. Maarten Delbeke from ETH Zurich closed this section by presenting on the rediscovery of German Baroque art by France after 1945, which broadened the understanding of Baroque’s cross-national diffusion.

In closing, Professor Werner Oechslin summarized the forum’s findings and led participants on a tour of his extensive library collection, showcasing rare historical works, including the early Nolli-plan of Rome. This year’s forum provided a platform for scholars to share research and insights while underscoring Baroque art’s role as a cultural vehicle in Sino-Western exchanges, offering new perspectives on the study of East-West art and architecture.
